Dr Nigel Audio is a custom audio production facility owned and operated since 2001 by recording artist and music producer Neil G. Larson (BMI).
Larson holds a degree from the University of Rochester / Eastman School of Music in computer music, digital sound and film scoring. He is an accomplished musician, pianist and keyboard player, and occasionally performs at live electronic dance music events.
Dr Nigel Audio Studios are located in Somersworth, New Hampshire, set in a converted Victorian-era loft. Services
Original Compositions
Dr Nigel Audio creates original audio scores, soundtracks, and themes in a wide variety of styles ranging from high energy action sequences to dramatic or percussive underscores; funky jazz breaks to hip-hop beats to straight ahead rock'n'roll tracks; and almost everything in between. We work closely with our clients to ensure that the music and direction right on par. Listen to examples.
Film Scoring / Video Sync
Dr Nigel Audio has been scoring to video since 1996. In addition to two complete film scores, we've also completed numerous televised ads, animation projects, and online video / Flash advertisements. Our cutting edge software and technology gives us the ability to sync up with the quickest cuts and video cues. With film scoring, our broad array of styles enables us to compose music for virtually any movie genre. Watch examples.
Mixes & Remixes
We use multiple platforms to create audio mixes. Depending on the style of music, we may choose between software platforms including Ableton Live 7.0, Adobe Audition 3.0, Sony ACID, Logic, or Cubase. Our VST technology has expanded over the past few years, allowing for deeper mixes and increased technical abilities. Dr Nigel Audio studios use MacBook Pro systems.
Mastering
Dr Nigel has five years' experience using Izotope's Ozone mastering software. He uses a combination of strategically-positioned Cambridge Soundworks speakers combined with high-end monitors and subwoofer, to create an accurate frequency spectrum representation.
Voiceovers
Dr Nigel Audio employs a number of contracted professionals who are specialized in a wide array of speech types and accents. In addition to experience with voiceover training, casting, recording and editing, Dr Nigel also provides many of his own voiceovers for both commercial and artistic efforts.
Noise Reduction & Sonic Enhancement
Concerned about the lifespan of those legendary tapes you made in the 80's? Send them to us for hi-quality digitization! We use a variety of software to eliminate background noises, remove unwanted hisses, hums and drones, and glorify the original audio quality by bringing out the most essential fundamentals of the sound.
Media Transfer
With rapid turnaround time, Dr Nigel Audio can convert all your old records and cassettes into authentic sounding digital versions, with proper trackmarking and sequencing.

The music on this page is a collection of original Dr Nigel material dating back to 2001. Albums are listed in reverse chronological order of release date, beginning with 2008's Future Conspiracies, through Isolated, released in 2003.

FUTURE CONSPIRACIES is a collection of tracks written between 2004 and 2008 that follow more of an RPM approach than much of the earlier Dr Nigel material. All tracks are uptempo (125bpm+) with the exception of the half-time numbers "Lisa's Song", and "Faults".
DR NIGEL'S DOWNTEMPO DUBS was written between '04 and '06, and released (printed and distributed) during the summer of '06. The album reflects a streetsmart, soulful edge, embracing elements of trip-hop, illbient and deep dubby bass.
DIABOLIK - ILL DEVICES came about as a reaction to my revelation of dubstep music. I used FL Studio to create beats up around 138-140, with similar break patterns I'd been feeling with dubstep. I added ambient backdrops to a few tracks (e.g. 'Mineralz') to pull away from the frantic nature of the beat and yield a more evocative undernote.
SEEING IN SQUARES was the first printed EP release of Dr Nigel. 1,000 copies were produced and distributed by various means. The tracks reflect varied styles but carry a common flavor: narrative electronica. Many of the tracks suggest the need for visual accompaniment, considering the presence of found sound, ambient backgrounds and choices of tone and timbre.
SOCIOLOGY EXPERIMENT was the first planned Dr Nigel LP release. The music continues the occasionally-off-kilter nature of 2003's 'Isolated', but in a slightly different direction. Much of the album is derived from found sound - samples gathered from a pocket recorder & layered into a recording.
